Adam Gundrum
Adam Gundrum is a true musical talent. He began his journey by obsessing over rock and roll guitar gods through his youth, and in his adult life he is in awe of all things vintage. Adam spends his free time watching music documentaries, listening to an LP from his expansive record collection, or creating new music in his own at home recording studio.
He is inspired by movie soundtracks as much as a live performance. No genre or era escapes his deeply felt appreciation from Louis Armstrong to Black Sabbath, Beck to Hank Williams. He loves vintage movies such as Alfred Hitchcock films or Powell and Pressburger, thoroughly enjoying the composition and execution of Bernard Herrmann to create such intensity of Hitchcock's famous films. He is enthralled with films by Jean-Pierre Jeunet as well as Quentin Tarantino. He loves directors that focus on the details of each scene, visually and musically, from Jeunet’s eerie French apocalypse, as well as Tarantino’s blood splattered sunny California day. Adam knows the soundtrack is everything for setting the appropriate mood of a scene.
His favorite genre is 60's and 70's and it shows in his work. His latest solo album featured tracks likened to The Kinks and The Beatles, each song complimenting the next with complete originality, variety, and confidence. His music defies category and inspires people of all ages.
Adam’s youth has been spent on stage in various alternative bands such as A Failed Escape, Unkle Ankle, Bo Jackson 5, and Bullhive. He has shared the stage with many great acts such as Royal Thunder, Supersuckers, Mastodon, and M.O.D. Adam coordinated Jimmy Sohns of Shadows of Knight to sing his 60’s hits with Adam’s current band backing him up. He composed and performed the original soundtrack for the short film titled June, as well as performing on songs in the film titled Kill Dolly Kill, both Rad Entertainment productions.
In recent years, Adam has been collecting vintage magazines and creating thought provoking visual collages. He enjoys the juxtaposition that collage art can offer and has created album covers for other bands as well as his own.
Adam will never stop creating, his mind always looking at the world through creative eyes. His peers are always waiting to snatch his next limited edition release, providing them with music that makes their day brighter and more real.
