Deryk Wehrley

Deryk Wehrley is a special effects makeup artist and the head of Icarus FX Studio and the in-house makeup artist for Studio 605.
Deryk's love for art began at a young age, drawing album covers, movie posters and playing bass guitar. He always wanted to be a rockstar, unfortunately he was terrible at playing instruments so he needed a different outlet. As a teenager, his love of horror grew and he took heavy interest in the process behind the scenes, specifically special effects and makeup.
"Seeing a bunch of people in metal shirts with long hair playing with fake blood and making monsters really inspired me. These were my people. This was my place."
After spending a year in L.A. working in several FX shops, he returned to Ohio at the age of 19 and began to make his mark in the indie scene.
Some of his projects include: Zombieland: Double Tap, Inverted and Wicked Ones.
